Seventh year Remus is online!

vagueenthusiast:

Remus is sat comfortably studying for his N.E.W.T.’s when a resounding crash shakes the common room.

It takes him less than a second to guess who might’ve been the cause.

There is some indistinct muttering, a scraping sound, a metallic *CLANG*, and then silence.

((OOC: You may as well ask Remus your questions now, before he regains his full concentration– you know better than to bother him when he’s focused.))

There’s a fic on fanfiction(.)net that I’ve kept tabs on for years to see if it’s been updated or not. While I’m no longer even in the fandom it’s written for, it just has one of the greatest storylines I’ve ever read. Last time it was updated was 2011.

The other day, I decided to reread the entire thing and leave a very in-depth review of what I thought of each chapter. I also mentioned how I started reading it when I was 13 and am now 21, but always came back to see if it was ever finished because I loved it so dearly.

Today, said author sent me a private message saying that her analytics showed that the story was still getting views even after all these years, but no one ever bothered to leave reviews other than “update soon!!!”, so she never felt motivated enough to finish it. She said that me reviewing every single chapter with lengthy paragraphs made her cry and meant the world to her. She also mentioned that she felt encouraged to write the two remaining chapters needed to complete the story and that she would send me a message the night before she updates the fic.

I’m literally sobbing. I’m so excited :’)

Please always remember to leave a review when reading fanfiction!!! It means a lot to a writer.

Seriously, this is what keeps us going; YOUR COMMENTS.

And you think my ranting about it is just being salty! It’s not! Reviews can mean the difference between feeling motivated and feeling out of place.

It’s how I finished a fic after it sitting unfinished for half a year. Got a long ass review that gave me ideas and then I wrote the last chapter.

Because I can’t find the time or energy to sit and read an actual fanfic of this I made up some headcannons instead.

▪When they first get him Sirius has a panic attack because I can’t raise a child Remus! Especially not James’ and Remus just holds him close and lists all the reasons why he’s going to be amazing at this.

▪ Remus is also terrified but keeps it buried for Sirius’ sake.

▪Niether if them sleep when they first bring him home they watch him sleep in his cot all night and get terrified at any small noise he makes. “what’s wrong with him Remus is he choking” “that was a sneeze Padfoot”

▪They’re staying in a tiny apartment, the same place Remus and Sirius rented when they left school. After only a week of having Harry, Sirius announces he’s bought them a small house in the country side.

▪ The place is a dump. Practically falling apart but it’s theirs and Sirius can’t help but grin as he walks through the door.

▪Sirius decorates the place. Remus has hardly any input. He’s in charge of the bookshelves and stocking the cupboards with food.

▪In Harry’s room Sirius paints a mural on one wall. Two deers under a starry night sky. With quidditch posters on the walls. “isn’t he too young for this Sirius?”  He also had photos everywhere. Of Lily and James and of James, Sirius and Remus at school and the new family of 3 all together

▪ Harry starts assessing Remus first calling him Mooney although it sounded more like “mooey”. Sirius feels deeply betrayed and refuses to talk to Remus for about a week. He actually threatens to make Remus sleep on the couch but just makes a wall of pillows between them instead.

▪ “How is this my fault Sirius?” “Because you’ve filled his head with… with … With cabbage!”Cabbage?” “Yes cabbage” and then Sirius dramatically storms out.

▪They take a day trip to Diagon Alley and nearly get mobbed by people wanting to meet The-boy-who-lived.

▪Everyone’s very surprised when it’s Remus, shy and quiet and studious Remus Lupin who threatens menacingly to hex people with the slug curse if they got too close. “slugs? Really Mooney?” Sirius smirks as he pushes the pram down the street. Remus just blushes and stiffs his hands in his pockets “Oh shut it Padfoot”

▪ They have a sort of family tradition. Every night (more or less) Remus tells Harry a story about his parents. Sometimes true stories other times stories where James is a dragon slayer and Sirius is a court jester. Other times Lily is the knight in shining armour and James is the damsel in distres.

▪ Remus has Harry tucked on one side cuddled up to his side and on the other side he has Sirius who’s head is on his chest and his arms as wrapped around him, eyes closed listening to the stories of his best friends.

▪ Sirius likes to take Harry on his motorbike. Remus hates it because he has to sit in the side carriage with Harry wrapped in a bout a dozen blankets with giant headphones over his knitted hat to block out the sound.

▪This becomes a common way to get Harry to sleep.

▪ Remus and Sirius play exploding snap when Harry’s asleep over a couple of beers. Looser has to change Harry’s nappies for a week. Remus looses quite a lot and always calls for best out of three. The best out of five because he’s a sore looser. Either way he ends up changing the nappies

You said to ask questions so I’ll ask you a question: What’s your favourite thing about Tonks?

sirussly:

(( OOC: I think Tonks has such potential for being a brilliant, rounded female character. Unfortunately she wasn’t as developed as she could have been in the books, and we won’t even MENTION the films, but here’s my take:

Everything about Tonks is a contradiction. Her mother comes from one of the most elite pureblood households in wizarding Britain, yet Tonks is this funny, clumsy character that utterly breaks any illusion of superiority. But she’s not some bumbling fool – Tonks is one of the youngest and most talented Aurors on the force. A canonical badass. And yet she’s not one of these cold, stand-offish female characters we so often see in our media, women who are required to be harsh and emotionless in order to be strong. In fact, Tonks is one of the most violently emotional characters we see in the books. Which yes, prompts rash decision-making and emotional outbursts… but those character flaws are what make her so human and relatable. She’s brash and clever and ambitious, and SO BRAVE – but she’s not a Gryffindor or a Slytherin or a Ravenclaw. She’s a Hufflepuff who would die to protect her loved ones… and that’s exactly what she did.

I think we need more female characters who are unapologetically emotional, characters who prove you can still be one of the most positive forces of energy there is… but when ass needs kicking, it gets kicked.

I have a lot of feelings about Nymphadora Tonks. ))
