Classes on consent are being taught in Kenya and rape in these areas where the classes are taught has decreased by 50%. The classes have also increased bystander intervention as well as female empowerment and positive masculinity.
It’s almost like rape is a choice made by the attacker alone.. That they had the full control all along, and that simply teaching them that women are fellow human beings and not objects for their pleasure really alters that choice.
When will the rest of the world catch up
To all those people saying it’s inherent in a man’s nature or we can’t just “teach people to be nice” actually you can, it’s not that hard.
Ash Collins has made mistakes. But repairing the burnt bridges isn’t exactly a priority, not when Diana Talann has dragged him into the world of The Guardians – an elite band of teenagers fighting a force best not named.
But something about Ash is different, and trying to find out why leads the Guardians down a dangerous road blazing with danger, blood, and secrets. And with a newfound world jeopardised, Ash is forced to accept that he will have to decide what person he wants to become a lot sooner than he could ever have dreamed.
What type of person am I looking for?
Anyone who enjoys YA stories, and is looking to read something which definitely has not been done before.
Do I have to have Beta Read before?
Nope! But it would be helpful if you’re a well rounded avid reader who knows what they do and do not like.
When is this happening?
I will be selecting Betas from May 27th – June 6th, 2018. Successful candidates will be notified by June 8th. The reading itself will take place during the months of June, July, and August.
How will it work?
I’ll send the readers three chapters at a time, along with a set of chapter questions in google forms. These will ask about plot holes you’ve noticed, favourite scenes, things you didn’t like, etc. Not really sure what a beta is but thin you’re interested? Youtube it! Jenna Moreci has some great videos explaining the whole process.
Please be aware that these are not paid positions. However, you will get from me, a fairly good read, eternal gratitude, and a solemn promise to return the favour if ever you needed.
“You’re trying to make me like you again,” the older hero said, massaging their temples. “Try to relax into the situation and focus on holding your powers inside yourself rather than pushing them outward.” “I’m sorry!” the young heroine cried. “It’s just you’re so important and I’m super nervous and-” “And you want to impress me, I know.” The hero smiled kindly. “It’s okay kid, I know how hard this can be, but we can’t have you unwittingly going around forcing everyone to like you. It;s not ethical and it will hurt you in the long term. Now let’s wipe the slate clean and try to have this conversation again, alright?”
The hero gasped, bending over double. That much pain, that much anger and fury and betrayal- They looked up, expecting it to be emanating from the villain, but they were a blank, depthless pool, entirely unreadable. It was only when another hero touched down beside them that the empath recognised the source. The anger pulsed, and the empath dry-heaved. They were going to be sick.
“The interesting thing about you,” the villain murmured, “is how strong your power is, and how easily it makes you crumple. A little flash of how I feel and,” the villain let some of their anger flash across their mind and the hero flinched back, “and you’re distracted. Any more and it incapacitates you. Quite the irony that one so strong could be so very weak.”
