Do you ever think about how Dumbledore knew the job for DADA professor was cursed?
He acknowledges that he knew about the rumor of it being jinxed, and admits he can’t keep anyone in that position after he refused Voldemort.
Do you ever think about how he drew Remus from his 12 year isolation and back in the place where he first belonged, the place where he first had friends, the first place he was acknowledged by the Wizarding community as one of them? He offered him a home, a job, that place of community and belonging, an opportunity to help and teach, a way to Change with his mind intact. He offered him a chance to be with James and Lily’s son, a chance to see what was saved by the efforts of the First War.
Do you ever think about how he did this knowing full well there was an expiration date?
Do you ever think that Dumbledore might have done this because he was keeping all his chess pieces close in hand? The players of that decade old betrayal were all there in the castle, that year, converging on one single point and I’m sure that’s how Dumbledore wanted it.
I’m not all that sure that what Dumbledore was offering Remus was out of kindness; I think he was doing it out of a need to control. He was covering his bases and making sure that they had gotten it right, since there was no trial and everything was a mess those few days after the War ended so abruptly. He was making sure Remus wasn’t the traitor. Or wasn’t one with Sirius.
Why, after 12 years, would the very year Sirius broke free be the one he offered to help him?

Do you ever think about how Remus was turned by Fenrir as a pawn to punish his father? And do you ever think that maybe he was a pawn again his first year back at Hogwarts?
CAUSE I SURE DO.
