James said goodbye to McGonagall, in his last day at Hogwarts, asking if he could hug her. She respectfully declined (because she was a professional) and James respectfully understood with his humour, so he just says “You’ve always been my favorite teacher. thank you Professor.”.
When James died, she regretted about declining that hug.
So after Harry destroyed Voldemort, she made sure to hug him, relieved that she wouldn’t regret this time.
Sirina: Well, you could try doing your hair for once…

Remie: I think the fact that he doesn’t like you and has asked you to leave him alone like a thousand times may have something to do with it, also that you never leave Severina alone, like he’s told you. You’re still a big air-headed bully in his eyes, so if anything’s making him ignore you, it’s got to be that
