As I get older I’m finding that a lot of the “intellectuals” I used to admire are actually just condescending and pretentious. And also realizing how much more important it is to be present, considerate, and empathetic because nobody really knows what they’re talking about and anyone who claims to know everything about anything is feeding you bs.

“When I was young, I admired clever people. Now that I am old, I admire kind people.”

– Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel

I am also realizing that actual intellectuals make their subjects easy to understand, and faux intelectuals will attempt to baffle.

“If you can’t explain it to a six year old, you don’t understand it yourself.”

– Albert Einstein

“In this world, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant. Well for years I was smart, I recommend pleasant.”

-Elwood P. Dowd, “Harvey”

There seems to be a lot of interest around the suicide forest in Japan from foreigners. Interest that doesn’t come from a place of sadness, like, “how can we stop this terrible thing from happening?”, But more like people think it is cool. I see a lot of Buzzfeed unsolved fans constantly asking the boys to visit there and I think it’s time we as a community put that to an end. If you see someone saying they should visit there kindly explain to them why that’s a bad idea. It’s not a cool, haunted, tourist location. It’s a tragedy.

I get really upset when I see fans ask them to vist the forest. It’s a place of tragedy, NOT for our entertainment. If you’re one of these people that asks them to go and film there, STOP.

The Silkie is a breed of chicken named for its atypically fluffy plumage, which is said to feel like silk and satin. The breed has several other unusual qualities, such as black skin and bones, blue earlobes, and five toes on each foot, whereas most chickens only have four. In addition to their distinctive physical characteristics, Silkies are well known for their calm, friendly temperament. It is among the most docile of poultry. Hens are also exceptionally broody, and care for young well. (Source)

WHENEVER YOU SEE THIS POST ON YOUR DASH, STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND WRITE ONE SENTENCE FOR YOUR CURRENT PROJECT.

Just one sentence. Stop blogging for one minute and write a single sentence. It could be dialogue, it could be a nice description of scenery, it could be a metaphor, I don’t care. The point is, do it. Then, when you finish, you can get back to blogging.

If this gets viral, you might just have your novel finished by next Tuesday.

Goddamn it, it’s back.

If it stays back, I might manage to finish a third story this year. Jesus.

I swear, this is now my only writing motivation.

BACK AGAIN??? Sigh.

Okay, sorry if anyone gets sick of this, but it’s the best way for me to get myself to write.
