I think James and Sirius had this never ending game of hexing each other with the most stupid spells. So there’s a moment McGonagall sees Sirius with only his head coming out of the sofa.
“Who did that to you, Black? Where is your body?”
“James.”
“I should give him detention and help you in this situation” she thinks out loud.
“Nah, I lost a bet. It was fair” says Sirius. “But I really need some help here.Wait. Professor? Where are you going?”
but sometimes she just had better things to do.
And when James appeared with big ears in the class.
“Who did-” she starts asking but Sirius is trying to contain his laughter so she just breaths. “Just take a sit, Potter.”
