theawkwardterrier:

Here’s something interesting: Nate predicts the precise moves of nearly everyone during this episode. He’s there waiting when the rest of the crew gets caught at the museum, the seeds already planted with Blackpoole and Sterling, ready to unfurl over the course of the con. They play the curator perfectly to get the mummy moved. He knows that the best way to get the crew to focus is to ignore them and start talking through the details of a plan. He even correctly anticipates the reaction of the crowd and uses that as part of the plot.

The only person he doesn’t have down? Maggie. In the course of the whole episode, she’s the thing that surprises him. That she remembers and recognizes the button-cam and is willing to come on board with them.

I love the way Maggie fits in with the team, and this episode is really the last time Sophie even hints at jealousy toward her, but it’s so great how she can clearly keep up with Nate.

(A postscript: how lovely is it that, in light of this throughline during the episode, Nate ends by telling the others that they’ve surprised him. His tremendous skill at prediction, and yet he could never have guessed when they were hired by Dubenich that they would care so very much, that they could form a team.)
