He’s one of those teachers where upperclassmen are always asking underclassmen if they have him for Chemistry
He also teaches an Astronomy elective
Logan is On Top Of It when it comes to assessment, learning targets, and standards all aligning with each other
He has this way of calming anxious and stressed students by just being very straightforward with them and not letting them buy into their cognitive distortions. He’s especially popular with seniors for this reason.
Like: “Mr. Sanders, what if I don’t get into any college? I’m barely passing my classes.” “First off, it is the first week of school. You’ve only had maybe one assignment in each class. Your grades are not yet indicative of a trend. Second of all, I have seen your work ethic and do not believe you will fail your classes. You have overcome academic struggle in the past. Therefore, the prospect that you will get overcome it again is not inconceivable.”
He’s a big hit with his students on the autism spectrum because he is very clear, sticks to a schedule remarkably well, and is excellent at consistency. He’s always calm, level-headed, and lets kids be themselves in his class.
He once told a student who had worked their butt off on a project and pulled a B when they were used to D’s and F’s that he was proud of them and they almost cried
It’s admittedly easy to get him off topic but not through his personal life: through the content. Like, ask him about the new NASA missions and he’ll go on a tangent for ten minutes. Somehow, he always ties it back to the lesson though.
One time he dabbed during a lesson about molar mass. Now every time he teaches that lesson, students hope they’ll get to see him do it again. It’s been three years, but still they wait.
Logan hates standardized testing. But there’s not much he can do about it. He just tries to be transparent with his students about it and why he sometimes has to do certain things to prep them for it.
He’ll go to war for his students well-being and safety. Whether it’s to the parents or administration, Logan is a good mediator but when push comes to shove? He’s gonna stand up for those kids.
Every once in a while, he’ll do a crazy lab demonstration that will make his students lose their minds.
He once went toe to toe in a rap battle with the theatre director, Roman Prince as a filler act for the school variety show. A student filmed it. It has tens of thousands of views on YouTube.
I probably have more but it is late and I should sleep… heh.
