(Yet Another) Friendly Reminder

captofthesswolfstar:

That most of the bloggers you follow here are not health care professionals.

We are not professional Psychologists

We are not professional Crisis Counselors

We are DEFINITELY not professional Medical Doctors.

We can only give you advice based on our experiences and our opinions, and that may not be what is best for YOU.

If you are dealing with an actual emergency or you feel like there may be something very seriously, please do not consider your Favorite Blogger as an acceptable alternative to actually seeking professional help, ESPECIALLY if it’s medical!!!

Do Not Fuck Around With Your Health

Do Not Contact your Tumblr Fav

Do Not Pass Go

…Maybe collect 200$ if you have a copay with your insurance, idk…

We literally cannot help you and our first response is going to be to tell you to go to a professional. AnY pRoFeSsIoNaL! Go to your Primary Care Doctor, a walk in clinic, the ER, Your School Nurse, it doesn’t matter. Someone who has actual knowledge about health care to any degree who can at least point you in the right direction.

Also, using the anon function to send personal questions about potential health issues you may be having with your body is really not the best way to get them answered…There are certain things that we don’t want to publish on our blogs because they are uncomfortable topics and we shouldn’t be pressured to post them publicly, which is unfortunately the only option with Anon messages.

It’s not even that we, the bloggers, are uncomfortable talking to you about it, it just doesn’t belong on our Fandom blogs…and you shouldn’t want that on our blogs either, whether everyone can see who you are or not. Its personal.

If you really feel like you need to talk to your Tumblr Fav about an issue like this (which is legit, sometimes we just need to hear it from someone else that something is serious and we need to take action) you should send a PM.

I know sometimes its hard to send a PM to a blogger that you look up to or like a lot. Social anxiety is super real and its absolutely valid to feel anxious even just saying hi, let alone messaging them to talk about something potentially embarrassing, but believe me, it’s so much better for you and for the blogger if you send these kinds of questions privately. It gives us a chance to either

A) Answer the question you have, because who knows? Maybe we DO have the knowledge you’re looking for, or at least can give some friendly advice

or

B) Tell you that although we want to help, we cannot.

It’s very stressful for some of us to have serious questions in our inboxes that we cannot answer, but are anonymous so we can’t even reach out and tell you that we cannot answer and it makes us feel like you might think we are ignoring you.

Just….Please? Please be considerate of your Advice Giving Tumblr Faves. We love you and we want to help you, but you have to help us too.
