Hey, guys!

This is a very important topic, and I feel like the Phandom does not do enough about it.

How many of you like the gaming channel? How many of you want it to continue? Is there even anyone who doesn’t?

Well, if you do, if you want the channel to stay, this is your time to fight

The new EU-law is threatening the channel’s entire existence. Many don’t seem to understand the significance, how important it is to fight this.

Why do we need to fight?

The new law the EU wants to enforce will restrict the usage of any and all copyrighted material, no exceptions. The games played on the channel fall under said copyrighted material.

So what does that mean?

If this law actually goes through, everyone in the EU will be unable to see the videos already up. But it gets worse. Since the UK is still a part of the EU (the Brexit won’t get through till at least 2021/2022, the law will probably be enforced by the start of 2019) all new content involving games uploaded to the channel will fall under the restriction law and will therefore be filtered and restricted, the channel will eventually be completely shut down due to the new law.

The law will also restrict and filter Fanart, GIFs, Cracks and other fanmade videos, probably even Fanfiction. Not only will it restrict anyone living in the EU from seeing it, it will also restrict uploads for all creators living in the EU. Your favorite DnP artist lives in Italy? Well, as long as the law is enforced they won’t be able to upload their content. Of course, this also goes for fanart of TV shows, movies etc. That is why we need to fight, right now

There will also be a link tax law. You want to link a video? An artist? A news article? You will have to pay for it.

What can you do?

  1. If you’re from the EU:
First of all, you can sign this petition. If it hits 500k signs by the 4th of July we might have a chance to stop this.
Secondly, you can make your voice be heard be the MEPs voting for your country. Here you can find a website that helps you contact those MEPs. Just type in your email and your country, the website will generate every MEP responsible for your country’s vote and send an email to them. If you have the time can also talk to them via phone.
  2. If you’re not from the EU:
Please share this post or the petition and the website I linked above. Inform all people you know about it. Message your favorite artists and creators. Tweet about it. Every last voice is important.

The final vote of the European Parliament will happen on the 4th of July. We still have time to fight. Please help us fight for our internet and the existence of the Phandom as we know it.

If you have any questions about the law or what it will entail, you can message me directly or find more information about it here.

this isn’t Thomas related, but i have the most followers on here so PLEASE reblog, sign the petition, do SOMETHING

Oh God. Please boost this.
