(( OOC: Hey guys, so I had a response back from Tumblr Support… and I dunno what to tell ya.
If you guys can’t see my gifs, I guess just contact them and see what’s up? ))
(( OOC: *puts IT support hat on*
I have so many people messaging me saying my gifs don’t load for them. Honestly, the most likely source of that problem is your internet connection.
Gifs are like mini-videos that run on an endless loop, so you need a pretty fast wi-fi speed in order to load them all at once. If you are viewing gifs on your mobile, the Tumblr mobile app really struggles to load them all without overloading the platform, which is why the app crashes/freezes etc. I have pretty fast wi-fi and even I struggle to load threads on my phone – it’s why you might have better luck loading gifs on a strong 4G or 3G mobile data signal. You should also have much better luck on a laptop/desktop computer (and the gifs look much better too *ahem*) but I understand not everyone has one.
If you’re having an issue viewing gifs on your laptop, again the problem is most likely wi-fi speed, and there’s really nothing we can do from our end. Obviously Tumblr offices have super-speedy wi-fi and is hence why they have no problem viewing TT’s gifs. Some people have found right-clicking the gif and opening it in a new tab allows them to view it properly, but I know that’s a pain.
It might also be your laptop, especially if you have 143803539 tabs open and sixteen apps running in the background squints over at Meg. Try closing everything down, install something like Dr. Cleaner for Mac or CCleaner for Windows, which will safely erase all the lurking junk and internet caches you don’t want.
If you don’t think your wi-fi speed or laptop is the problem, definitely shoot Tumblr Support a message and see if they can help. Otherwise I hope this explains the issue a little better, and I really those affected manage to sort the problem.
