Headcanon: (For once, it’s not Emmett.)

Esme likes to hand knit a bunch of those “ugly” christmas sweaters for her family to wear nearly every year.

#and then the next day they all donate them to a nearby charity #said charity is always pleased to discover a pile of brand new exceptionally pleasant smelling sweaters each year. #along with a stack of anonymous handwritten letters for whoever receives the corresponding sweater #or maybe it’s not the next day maybe they donate them on new years? 

I’m really digging this. 

But I imagine it more like, as soon as December hits, that’s when the Cullens get their sweaters from Esme. So she likely would make them in November or she may have pre-made them earlier in the year. 

Instead of giving them away the day after Christmas, the Cullens keep their sweaters for the entire year. As October finishes, the seasons change and everything around starts to get cold, that’s when they donate their sweaters. They donate their old sweaters to make room for their new sweaters for the holidays. 

Also, I never actually said that Esme only makes one for each person. She likely makes a few for each member of the family. Like, she probably knitted Carlisle a doctor-themed sweater for work, a couple for home, and a few new festive scarves to go with them. Emmett probably requested that one of his has a bear wearing a christmas hat, or maybe a dinosaur on it. 

Idk, let’s say she makes at least 3 for each member, and now inculding Bella, Renesmee, Jacob, and probably Seth (Leah gets one even if she doesn’t want one), that’s like around 30 sweaters lmao (+Carlisle’s scarves). The charities they donate to would definitely be happy with that. And I love the idea of a hand written letter attached to the sweaters. 

I really like your addition and I can definitely see them doing that.

And I just…. the anonymous letters. Can you even imagine. Most of theirs is v sweet sounding. Esme’s sounds more warm and loving than Edwards but Edwards sounds more like an excerpt from a novel. Jasper’s and probably Rensmee’s is a typical “wish you a wonderful christmas and a happy new year” kind of letter. And then you have Emmett… “I fought a mountain lion and won wearing this sweater. I hope when you wear it you have an epic moment too. Merry Christmas.”
