We, the Fanders, need a code word

A word that we all recognize as the thing said when someone is in a bad place mentally and needs some support or just a break. The Supernatural fandom has a post like this going around, and I think it’s a good idea? Something to say when you can’t outright say what you need, something to post or send to an ask box or something.

Any ideas you guys?

in theory it seems like a good idea, but crofter’s is a Thing in the fandom already, that many people talk about. so how would we differentiate between someone talking about crofter’s normally/making a joke vs using the code word ?

@thomas-must-get-to-sleep What if we use “Anxiety’s room” or something to that effect? Most people, unless in fanfics, don’t refer to the Sides by what they represent, because we know their names now. So if we were talking about his room in the context of the sides, we’d most likely say Virgil’s room. The other alternative is to find some phrase that isn’t a joke in the fandom, a line nobody latched onto and decided was going to be a joke. Another alternative could be a line from The Things We Used To Share, because most people in the fandom recognize it, and none of the lines were made into a joke.

Anxiety’s Room works well I think. Literally just saying, “I’m in Anxiety’s room” is pretty clear but it’s got enough of a veneer of fandom over it that it might be easy to say even if someone were feeling close to non-verbal.

The version of this post that grew most popular is the one about Anxiety’s room, so I’d use that. Some people might use the crofters thing, however.

I use anxietys room. I actually used it twice and at least two people messaged me in no second. Use anxietys room. It works
