December Headcannons

  • Roman is notorious for being the one who is singing carols and putting decorations up the hour that Thanksgiving ends.

  • He has to get more creative each year because he always wants to out do his attempt from last year (Though he has calmed down considerably since he accidentally set the tree on fire with candles)

  • Roman’s gifts end up being so extravagant and symbolic that he has to write down all of the meanings behind his gifts, despite how simple with his presents he has tried to be

  • Logan is the exact opposite of Roman during Christmas time. He sees no reason to decorate their entire living space, and is distracted by the bright colors of the tinsel more often than not

  • He’ll put a clever wreath up on his door, wear a festive tie, and enjoy a piece of peppermint bark, but other than that, Logan tries to be the adult of the group. He makes sure no candle accidents happen again while watching over the others like a tired mom at the park.

  • When it comes to gift giving during the holidays, Logan tries to put some real thought and feeling into his presents, but he almost always ends up panicking at the last second and getting the most practical gift for each side instead

  • Patton already has wrapped the gifts he got everyone by the time it’s Halloween, and just spends weeks trying to fit all of his emotions from the past months into letters for the others while bundled up in his many, many Christmas sweaters

  • The end of November and all of December is filled with Patton baking treats that he had everyone taste test throughout the years. Old classics and new favorites clutter the counter tops- usually accompanied by a fancy decoration or two left behind by Roman

  • Out of everyone, Patton is the only one who actually likes the cheesy Hallmark holiday movies, but all the sides try to sit down with him and watch a few every year

  • Virgil used to wholeheartedly join Logan in complaining about the decorations and constant sweets, but now he has taken to caring for the others during one of the few times the sides are as stressed out as he is.

  • Virgil is the one who’ll claim he’s trying to “steal Christmas cheer” before dragging the others to a break from baking or decorating or panicking about presents to sit down and just watch a movie

  • Naturally, he worries about his gifts and over-thinks them more than all the sides combined, but he’s usually at least somewhat happy with his results by the time Christmas comes around. (It also is quite reassuring to know that no matter how hard he tried in the past, he’s never actually managed to ruin Christmas)

  • And if he takes advantage of Pattons love of movies, Logan’s passive state, and Romans lack of energy after a day of decorating to rewatch The Nightmare Before Christmas with a cup of hot chocolate, well…can you blame him?
