I just need a fic with Virgil being adorable (I mean, he always is) and giggling just out of happiness. Nothing spectacular has happened, but he’s content, things are good, and he’s happy. And he just giggles, because who knew things could turn out this way for Anxiety?
(Ask and ye shall receive. Well, a small attempt, at least)
It hit him out of the blue one day while sitting in the living room with the others.
Logan was sitting on the couch beside him, working on a crossword puzzle. Roman was laying on the floor humming the Moana soundtrack under his breath as he watched the movie on the tv on low volume. Patton was watching with Roman, making comments here and there and asking both Logan and Virgil how they were doing, offering all three of them snacks.
It was a normal day. And that…that was exciting for Virgil. A normal day. Ever since they had taken the time to talk to Virgil, making him feel valued and necessary to Thomas and to the other sides, Virgil had been feeling lighter.
It started with the little things, he noticed. They wouldn’t roll their eyes when he arrived. The teasing was lighter and more playful than anything else. They made sure to invite him to movie nights and they waited for him before they had dinner.
Virgil felt like he belonged.
Before he knew it, just from looking at the three others and how comforting the whole scene was, Virgil was giggling. He giggled because he hadn’t felt this loved from just existing with the others before. He didn’t usually have that warm feeling in his chest except for a few times in his life, like when Patton gave him the card that he kept right on his nightstand. “Ur fam ily.” It was their version of “ohana”, if he was comparing it to a Disney movie.
It wasn’t always going to be like this. Virgil knew that in the back of his mind. But for once, he didn’t pay that thought any attention. He just…let himself giggle. He was happy. And he deserved to be happy.
